Adamo has always said that he believes a painting should speak for itself and be a unique experience for each viewer. Today I'll share some of my personal thoughts on this extraordinary piece. When we think of Portofino the image of the Mediterranean coast and bright pastel houses crowded on rocky cliffs is what typically comes to mind. Pietro is not typical. This piece is almost counter to that with its deep cool tones and almost monochromatic feel. It then hit me, it feels like Portofino Bay at dusk. Was the piece inspired by a quiet walk along the harbour as the sun quietly sets? Right or wrong this piece like all great masterpeices compels you to think, to wonder, to dream. -JC (curator)
